Friday Fishbird Flicks : “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”

Welcome to Friday Fishbird Flicks 📽 – wherein I watch a movie that everyone has already seen, and talk very briefly about it so we can get on with other things 🤩

This week I watched “Guardians Of The Galaxy : Vol. 2” – the 2017 Marvel movie starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn … phew! And a raft of talented others, it’s a great ensemble cast.

I enjoyed it – 7 Fishbirds out of 10!

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times – you can’t go wrong with a giant space worm & that’s how this movie kicks off 😃 When you think about it, every movie can be improved with the addition of a space worm. I’m looking at you – ‘Driving Miss Daisy’.

I felt the acting was really strong and there were some laugh out loud moments scattered through the film – most of my highlights were Drax scenes, though that triangle faced monkey & little Groot were appreciated too 😄

With the total picture time at 2 hours & 20 mins, I did feel the movie dragged in places (surprisingly, I suggest injecting more giant space worms). I did take breaks and checked a few times how long it still had to go. I am like an old woman though (because I’m wise) so my need for breaks might not be totally the films fault 😉

In places it felt like the writers were intent on saturating the film with jokes, at the expense of a more captivating plot – however the humour is often the highlight of the piece.

So, mixed feelings – but I was entertained & will definitely pull up a seat for the next instalment 😎

I paired the movie with a few glasses of Hogs In The Woods Tempranillo & had a great time helping to save the galaxy 🎥🎞

I’ve been watching my way through the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but tend to jump around a bit. I think my favourites so far have been the first ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Thor : Ragnarok’.

What films have been your favourite in the Marvel franchise so far? Are you looking forward to any future mash-ups?
