Friday Fishbird Flicks 📽 – wherein I watch a movie that everyone has already seen, and talk very briefly about it so we can get on with other things 🤩.
This week I watched the 2016 movie “Swiss Army Man” starring Daniel Radcliffe, Paul Dano and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. So good! 😂🏝 This was an unexpectedly warm, funny and clever film.
I hadn’t really credited Radcliffe’s acting chops before, however he shone in this role where he was essentially planking his way through the forest as a dead/undead but helpful friend.
Paul Dano was fantastic and delivered his comedic role softly and with heart. At times both juvenile and hilariously surreal, I was fully adrift with both characters – crossing my fingers that they’d find a literal and emotional rescue.
This movie has a bear, flaming farts, a blossoming friendship, arts & crafts and a love story.
Highly recommended – 8 Fishbirds out of 10.
I paired this movie with a few glasses of Gemtree Dragon’s Blood Shiraz, and was grateful that I didn’t have to crush the grapes myself, using the teeth of a washed up dead man.
